I have alienrespawn and if i do a maintenence check bef it pops up when i start comp it comes up clean but as soon as alienrespawn starts if i do a system maintenence check i get a disk volume error ive tried chkdsk, sfc scannow and come up with no errors wtf could cause alienrespawn to be giving me this error does it matter if you've already installed stuff on the computer? For some reason I'm thinking you want the os as clean as possible, is that true? If so is it bad to make a recovery disc after installing software and games on the hard drive? Just purchased a used M14x and it came with no drive. Possible to install Alienware Windows 7? The windows key is still stuck on the bottom.
What the best method if anything to get it restored to factory default? Thanks hi, I need your help, I saw the video to flash to restore Alienware, but here, I do not have access to the recovery because of a mistake on my part, is what could be that you share me your factory restore data? If it is obviously possible (ps: sorry for the English is google trad ) couldn't even install alienrespawn on my alienware M17xR1 _' first tried the direct one from the respawn homepage. But after it restarted to continue installing, it basically didn't do anything. So i had to abort the installation and then I tried it from the page were you need to check your system first.
Which told me that i didn't had a recovery partition or something like that? Brand new laptop. Can't even make a recovery backup (well atleast not with the software from alienware) After when it says 'writing files' it was already 30 minutes and still said writing files. I was using my ipod classic as a USB drive is that why? i have tried this on 3 different usb keys and respawn still says No USB Key Found the sizes iv used are 8GB 16GB and 32GB all sandisk i also have a Western Digital 250GB external HDD and Respawn still saying no usb key found. This is soooo annoying, can anyone help? it only takes a few minutes. For me it was only writing 7gb worth of data If you get BSoD then something obv went wrong It can happen for a number of reasons (faulty hardware/ overheating etc), what u need to do is: - Write down the error code/ parameters of the BlueScreen. (or check record of it in windows minidump folder) - Search for that error code on microsoft's support page (this will tell you potential causes - and USUALLY a solution to your problem) thanks The usb doesnt require a working OS on the hard drive in order to work.
You can see me in one of my other videos using it to restore my system on a clean hard drive. I will upload that in my next vid for you how long did it take you to create this recovery media. I tried multiple times and it skiped through the 25% and the 75% very very fast and then it just stopped at 75%, for almost 2 hours and then gave the message that an error has occurred. So I had to format my USB If u bought direct from Dell its usually included in the bundled software - give them a call, see what they say Everyones preinstalled settings can be different but usually a 10GB - 14GB should give you enough usuable space. You can see exactly how big the file will be by inserting any flash usb (not hardrive) and following the steps until it displays your available media (it alerts you about how much space you need at this point). Once you read this simply press cancel.
Hope that helps..

After this you’ll have to restart your computer, go to BIOS and enable AHCI. When you log in to Windows again, you’ll notice the installation of drivers for AHCI. Another restart will be required to finish the driver installation. These steps are provided at your own risk and not suggested unless you know and understand the risks. You will want to make sure the controller driver and MB BIOS support this option before you enable it Here's where to mount(tape) your SSD.
Thanks for the post, I plan on doing this same thing when I get mine. Couple of questions: After installing Win7 to the SSD, is all the needed Alienware software/drivers on the included disks?
So my install should be no different from the OEM install on the HDD? Second, does the X51 come with a Windows disk? I have my own already, just curious. And last, TRIM is not activated by default?

When I installed an SSD in my laptop last year it was, I didn't need to do anything. I would like to retain full functionality of all the included software, including Alienware ReSpawn. Just did this on my new X51 I just received - I have the right one selected in the BIOS for boot, and eventually it DOES boot and I have the SSD as my system drive now (C but it sits for 3 to 5 minutes at the POST screen before actually even activating the function keys to do setup or boot menu or anything. Once it boots it works fine, but I can't get it to go past the POST as fast as it did before the SSD. I've done a lot of SSD's and never had anything quite like this on any of my other systems. Going to look to see if there's a more recent BIOS for the X51 as well as downgrade the firmware on my SSD (Crucial M4 that had problems due to the new firmware so their support said to put it back to the previous) and see if either of those help, but otherwise even the boot is taking forever, I get the splash screen for windows and it looks like it's booting at SSD speeds (My boot camped mini booted in about 15 seconds from power button to desktop using this very SSD) until the splash screen goes black right before the logon screen comes up - and there's another 60 second or so delay. If the BIOS and firmware changes don't make a difference I'll just yank it out as it's not that critical for me, as it's a media center PC that runs 24/7 so I only have to deal with boots once in a while when I need to either change something or just refresh it.
I had a good experience index before removing the SSD - 7.7 overall since that was the lowest score (for the i5 processor(. Everything else was 7.8 which is out of 7.9 IIRC so I'm satisfied with the performance so far, but I haven't started using it yet. I gave up, and just pulled the SSD.
Since it's a media center PC I can live with a spinning drive as it doesn't get rebooted often, or apps launched other than at boot. Not worth the hassle for me. If you ever track it down let me know - my new system already had A06 for the BIOS so nothing to update there.
Maybe I'll do an SSD attempt again in the future if someone works out the problem.
