Click to expand.------------------------------------------------------------------------ UEFI BOOT SPLASH / UEFI SECURE BOOT SPLASH There seems to be two boot splash image 'stages': (I may be wrong) - 1st Stage: UEFI control - this image is hard coded into the UEFI BIOS. As long as you have UEFI boot enabled, you will see the OEM logo. There is no spinning circle at this stage (O/S boot loader not yet loaded). 2nd Stage: O/S Secure Boot Loader - this image is either 'blue Windows logo' with a spinning circle (non-secure boot UEFI, or legacy BIOS boot) or the 'OEM logo' with a spinning circle (secure boot UEFI). - I think to get around the secure boot requirement for the 2nd stage logo, some people may be using special copies of 'bootres.dll' (C: Windows Boot Resources bootres.dll). I am not sure. I haven't gone this route.
It is my experience that using UEFI boot with Secure Boot Enabled gets you the Alienware boot logo on a Alienware 17 R2 (2015). I haven't tried with my Alienware 18. I boot too many other O/Ss to deal with Secure Boot and juggling boot keys in the BIOS at this time (This may change as my comfort level with boot keys increases).
YMMV This is just my anecdotal noodling with it. I seem to recall when I used UEFI + Secure Boot, I got the Alienware logo for both boot stages.
(I may be wrong) FYI - I was using Volume License media from Microsoft, not Alienware / Dell OEM install media. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PS: Here are some other Alienware Support files: Dell Custom Desktop Themes, A-02 Alienguise Theme Combo-Win7 (Note: Package includes 'Alienware Breed' wallpapers, I believe.) (Note: I don't think the theme files work on Windows 8, 8.1, nor Windows 10. I could be wrong though.).
